Speaking on the National Science Day celebrations in Kohima, Science & Technology Department Principal Secretary I Himato Zhimomi mentioned Nagaland has over 70,000 unemployed youths, whereas most graduates passing out every year are from the Arts stream.
Arguing that Science schooling provides stronger employment prospects, he urged mother and father, lecturers and college students to prioritise scientific disciplines.
“The economic foundation of the state must rest on engineers, doctors, technicians and researchers,” he mentioned, stressing that sustained funding in science and expertise can be central to attaining India’s purpose of turning into a developed nation.

The Outstanding Achievement in Science & Technology Award was collectively conferred on Sapu Changkija and Vinotsole Khamo.
