New Delhi, March 28 (PTI) The Centre has invited nominations for the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP) 2026, a nationwide initiative to recognise excellent contributions within the fields of science, expertise, and innovation.

The awards are administered by the RVP Secretariat, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Ministry of Science and Technology, below the chairmanship of the principal scientific advisor to the federal government.

“The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in science, technology, and innovation. These awards celebrate the spirit of inquiry and dedication of our scientists and innovators who are driving India’s transformation into a global knowledge leader,” Union Minister Jitendra Singh mentioned in an announcement on Saturday.

Nominations, together with self-nominations, are open throughout a variety of domains, together with agricultural science, atomic vitality, organic sciences, chemistry, defence expertise, Earth science, engineering sciences, environmental science, drugs, physics, area science and expertise, and others.

The awards will likely be offered in 4 distinct classes: Vigyan Ratna to recognise lifetime achievements in science and expertise; Vigyan Shri to acknowledge distinguished contributions to the sphere; Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar to encourage younger scientists (as much as 45 years of age); and Vigyan Team (VT) for groups of three or extra researchers for collaborative excellence.
