Girls flag soccer is formally right here to remain in New Jersey.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) overwhelmingly accredited the game, granting it full varsity standing starting in 2027. The measure handed by a decisive 311–18 vote amongst member colleges.
The determination will carry a number of important adjustments, together with the addition of a postseason state event, which is predicted to comply with a group-based format just like different NJSIAA sports activities. Another main shift is that athletes will now be required to decide on between flag soccer and different spring sports activities, as NJSIAA rules allow participation in just one varsity sport per season.
The sport’s progress has been substantial, with 29 applications competing within the Shore Conference this season alone.
With the approval, flag soccer turns into the thirty fifth varsity sport sanctioned by the NJSIAA, and New Jersey joins 19 different states nationwide in formally recognizing ladies flag soccer.
