The European Union (EU), in partnership with the federal authorities, is about to host the science and innovation house in Lagos State on 24 February to strengthen collaboration within the science and expertise ecosystem. 

The occasion with the theme: “Making Science Together”, will convey collectively researchers, innovators, policymakers, traders, and artistic thinkers to discover how Nigeria and Europe can construct science ecosystems that work.

The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, stated that robust science ecosystems are usually not inbuilt isolation, noting that they develop when establishments, individuals, and creativity are linked by means of belief, openness, and sustained funding.

The occasion comes at a time when Nigeria and the EU are strengthening cooperation on science, expertise, and innovation, together with by means of the Global Gateway partnership framework. 

The occasion is anticipated to present a shared house to alternate concepts, showcase expertise, and switch ambition into motion.

Mignot acknowledged, “The Nigeria–EU Science & Innovation Day displays a shared perception that science and innovation are strongest when partnerships are deep, inclusive, and constructed for long-term affect.

“Nigeria’s scientific and innovation ecosystem holds immense promise. Through nearer cooperation with Europe, we’re strengthening the connections that enable concepts, expertise, and options to transfer quicker and additional.

“By bringing together researchers, innovators, policymakers, and investors, this initiative helps turn shared ambition into collaboration that delivers practical results for society.”

The one-day occasion will characteristic a wealthy programme, together with high-level conversations and panel discussions, a younger researchers’ pitch session, and a matchmaking assembly between Nigerian and European organisations, designed to foster collaboration, partnerships, and real-world affect.

Reiterating the EU’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s science and innovation ecosystem, Ambassador Mignot added, “For the European Union, cooperation on science and innovation is about investing in people and partnerships that can shape a more sustainable and prosperous future for Nigeria and Europe alike.”
