The training ministry on Thursday appointed new vice-chancellors to 11 public universities, together with Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Islamic University, and Comilla University.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division underneath the training ministry nevertheless issued separate circulars relating to the removing of the earlier vice-chancellors and the appointment of new ones at 12 public universities, together with Begum Rokeya University.
Later, the division issued one other round stating that the the earlier one relating to Begum Rokeya University had been cancelled.
Other 9 universities are Barishal University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Rangamati Science and Technology University, Pabna Science and Technology University, and Jamalpur Science and Technology University.
Among the important thing appointments, BUET’s civil engineering professor Eqramul Hoque has been named the new vice-chancellor of BUET, changing professor ABM Badruzzaman.
Professor Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, earlier vice-chancellor of Islamic University, has been changed by the college’s public administration professor AKM Motinur Rahman.
Professor MM Shariful Karim of English division at Comilla University has been named the new vice-chancellor, changing professor Mohammad Haider Ali.
Other appointments embody professor Md Mamun Or Rashid at Barishal University, professor Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan at Jamalpur Science and Technology University, professor ABM Shahidul Islam at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, professor Abul Hasnat Md Shamim at Pabna Science and Technology University, professor Zainul Abedin Siddique at Rangamati Science and Technology University, professor Mohammad Musharof Hossain at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, professor Mohammad Iqbal at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, and professor Golam Rabbani at Noakhali Science and Technology University.
Earlier, the training ministry in March and April appointed new vice-chancellors to eight public universities, together with Dhaka University, Chittagong University and Rajshahi University.
Many senior officers at 45 of the 55 public universities remained absent from their places of work following the ouster of the AL regime, in accordance to the federal government.
Resignations of the vice-chancellors and different senior officers started as college students at completely different universities gave them ultimatums to accomplish that on allegations of aiding the deposed AL regime and the police to suppress the rebellion.
Later, the previous interim authorities appointed vice-chancellors to these universities. The newly appointed vice-chancellors will substitute them.
