Women took up almost 32 p.c of new hires at South Korean research institutes in 2024, rising steadily over the previous decade amid government-led efforts to foster feminine scientists, knowledge confirmed Monday.

According to the info compiled by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology, women accounted for six,616 of 20,739 new hires at 5,138 South Korean establishments in 2024.

The determine marks a leap from 24.2 p.c in 2015.

The report confirmed that women accounted for 13.3 p.c of lead scientists of research initiatives in 2024, rising from 7.8 p.c in 2015.
