South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT mentioned on March 8 it’s going to function a public suggestions platform, “Science and Technology Talent Voice 5.0,” to draw up the fifth basic plan for fostering and supporting science and technology talent, which is able to underpin science and technology talent coverage for 2026 to 2030.

The platform will function for 2 weeks from March 9 to 20. It could be accessed via the ministry’s web site and the web sites of associated organisations, together with the ministry, IRIS (National Researcher Information Service), NTIS (National Science and Technology Knowledge Information Service) and 4 science and technology institutes – KAIST, GIST, DGIST and UNIST – and anybody can freely submit recommendations.

The basic plan is the top-level statutory plan beneath Article 4 of the Special Act on Support for Science and Engineering, and is anticipated to be finalised within the first half of this 12 months. The ministry plans to transcend its current coverage targeted on coaching personnel and embrace assist for the expansion of younger science and technology professionals and the creation of AI-based innovation.
