The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office mentioned on Saturday it’s investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Rep. Eric Swalwell, a day after NCS reported {that a} former staffer for the congressman accused him of getting intercourse along with her when she was unable to consent.

“We urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” the DA’s workplace mentioned in an announcement to NCS. “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.”

The former staffer informed NCS that she was closely intoxicated after an evening of ingesting with Swalwell in New York City in April 2024 when she woke as much as him having intercourse along with her in his resort mattress.

“I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the girl informed NCS of the incident, which she mentioned occurred after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s workplace. “He didn’t stop.”

The girl was one among 4 who described allegations of misconduct by Swalwell, who’s operating for California governor.

Swalwell had denied the allegations in an announcement to NCS and in a video he posted to social media Friday night. The congressman mentioned in an announcement that “these allegations are false and come on the eve of an election against the front-runner for governor.”

“For nearly 20 years, I have served the public – as a prosecutor and a congressman and have always protected women. I will defend myself with the facts and where necessary bring legal action,” he mentioned.
