Five of the seven villagers trapped for a week in a flooded collapse Laos have been found alive, rescuers mentioned on Wednesday.

They have been positioned by specialist cave divers and for now stay caught in an underground cavern within the central Laotian province of Xaisomboun, as rescuers proceed to seek for the 2 remaining people.

“5 people have been found safe. The search continues for the remaining 2,” Thai rescue diver Kengkad Bongkawong wrote on Facebook at 4.30 p.m. native time.

Bongkawong informed NCS on Tuesday that after the trapped people are found, they are going to be given a bodily evaluation and supplied with liquid and gel meals. A plan will then be fashioned as to find out how to extract them.

The harmful operation to rescue the villagers was launched amid deteriorating situations. They are believed to be trapped on “an elevated ledge inside the cave that benefits from continuous airflow,” state-run Lao News Agency reported Tuesday.
