Sohn Hoon, a professor within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), has been named the June recipient of the Korea Science and Technology Award, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and co-organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and the Seoul Economic Daily.

The MSIT and the NRF introduced Tuesday that Sohn was chosen for creating expertise that permits real-time catastrophe and emergency alerts for small and medium-sized social infrastructure, contributing to the improved security of the nation’s building infrastructure. The reasonably priced high-precision displacement sensor he developed is produced at one-fortieth of the price of standard sensors whereas delivering ultra-high precision.
