Indian IT agency Tata Consultancy Services has named Amit Kapur as the head of its newly formed AI and companies transformation unit, a company memo seen by Reuters confirmed on Tuesday.
Kapur’s appointment, efficient from September, comes at a time when Indian IT corporations are racing to undertake and provide extra AI merchandise to their shoppers to draw tech spending, which has remained suppressed for a lot of quarters.
“Over the last few years, TCS has made major forays on the AI front by scaling our capabilities, reskilling our workforce and deepening our partnerships,” the company stated within the memo.
TCS’ formation of the brand new unit comes weeks after the Indian IT main introduced plans to chop 12,000 jobs, flaring up alerts that India’s $283 billion outsourcing sector might see extra layoffs as the use of AI deepens.
The company didn’t instantly reply to Reuters’ request for remark in search of affirmation on Kapur’s appointment.
