Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday mentioned that India’s scientific expertise has gained international recognition, with the nation now ranked sixth in patent filings and fourth in scientific publications. He added that India is anticipated to surpass the United States in publications by 2029.
The minister made these remarks in the course of the curtain-raiser ceremony of the upcoming Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025), scheduled to be held from November 3 to 5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Singh introduced the theme for the three-day conclave — “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047” — and highlighted that it’s going to give attention to rising applied sciences comparable to semiconductors, synthetic intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, area, and clear power. He emphasised that these areas are important to guaranteeing India’s strategic autonomy and long-term resilience.
Commending the Principal Scientific Adviser’s group for curating 11 thematic classes, Singh mentioned such initiatives symbolise India’s “quantum leap” from being a follower to turning into a frontrunner in science and innovation.
Positioning the convention as a platform for younger innovators, startups, and researchers to showcase options, entry mentorship, and interact with business stakeholders, the minister mentioned the conclave goals to rework India’s demographic dividend into an “innovation dividend.”
The Science and Technology Minister was joined by Secretaries of 13 ministries and departments, members of the scientific neighborhood, and representatives from analysis and business on the curtain-raiser occasion.
