The Highlands Sports Complex hosted “Stronger Together: Highlands 5-Year Celebration” on Saturday, marking 5 years of development, recollections and service, whereas rallying the neighborhood in assist of households affected by the latest flooding in Ohio County.

Proceeds from the occasion will profit the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley’s Disaster Recovery Fund. The celebration introduced collectively residents, athletes, households and native companies for a day of actions reflecting the spirit of unity and resilience, reminiscent of:

– A free children’ clinic and climbing wall

– First responders’ recognition

– Pickleball match fundraiser

– Community honest that includes native distributors

– A free curler derby match

“Reaching this five-year milestone at the Highlands Sports Complex is about more than looking back — it’s about recognizing the spirit and unity of Ohio County,” stated Zach Abraham, Ohio County Commission president. “We remember the victims of the June 14 flood and honor the survivors who carry on with strength. We also share our appreciation to the first responders and volunteers whose courage and compassion lifted us in our darkest hours. Time and again, our community has shown that when challenges come, we rise together. That’s what makes Ohio County, West Virginia, so special.”
