Recently, the analysis outcomes of the 2025 Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME) have been formally introduced. The undertaking Research and Application of Key Technologies for the Design and Construction of 20MW-Class High-Efficiency Offshore Wind Power Installation Platforms, led by CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), has received the First-Class Award for Science and Technology Progress.

The undertaking was led by the GSI Cargo Ship Design Team for Wind Power Installation Platform, in collaboration with China Merchants Marine Equipment Research Institute and Guangdong Shipyard International Marine Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Capable of working at most water depths of 70 meters, the platform options unrestricted navigation capabilities. It permits built-in transportation of offshore wind generators from port bases to building websites, helps set up operations for offshore wind generators as much as 20MW capability, and possesses the potential to assemble wind turbine gear on the platform deck.

The groundbreaking achievements of this undertaking not solely solidify GSI’s technological management in deepwater offshore wind energy set up but in addition drive the transformation and upgrading of associated industries. Moreover, they considerably improve the technological sophistication and market competitiveness of the vitality sector, offering strong technical assist for China’s twin carbon objectives.
