REEDLEY, Calif. (KFSN) — Most of the Reedley males’s golf team is not from California.

In reality, most of the Tigers aren’t even from this nation.

The team jokes they’re the “United Nations” Tigers, with their 14 gamers representing 9 completely different international locations.

“I don’t understand what they’re saying a lot of times because if they’re in their native tongue, they could be talking about me,” says coach Scott Stark.

Golfers coming from locations like Germany, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands are experiencing America for the primary time, residing within the Central Valley.

“Just being able to play golf all year is a great option,” says Phillip Kjellander. “Then I met coach and the team, It’s a perfect fit.”

The program at Reedley College attracts worldwide expertise as a result of of its storied historical past.

“We sell the tradition that we have here with 11 straight conference championships — 19 in my 20 years as a head golf coach,” Stark mentioned.

“I knew we were good with all the trophies and everything they have won, but I didn’t know we were this good,” says Leopoldo Eisner.

“Definitely the records, the opportunity to win,” says Nicholas Gerow. “Nothing is given here. You have to earn a spot on the team, earn a spot in the lineup.”

With such a various group, the blokes are studying about new cultures.

The Tigers have been runner-up at state for the final two seasons, hoping expertise from 9 completely different international locations can come collectively as one unit and produce the championship again to Reedley.
