FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Fresno Pacific volleyball has but to lose a sport this season.
They’re one in every of solely two groups ranked on this week’s AVCA coaches ballot which are nonetheless undefeated.
Breaking the highest 25 for the primary time in 12 years wasn’t a shock to anybody in this system.
“I had no clue where we were going to be ranked, but I knew we deserved it,” says freshman Madelyn Feramisco.
Feramisco is not any stranger to main a group. A former varsity captain at Clovis East, the FPU freshman leads the Sunbirds in kills and aces this season.
Mikayla Weiss, a Buchanan grad, simply notched her one thousandth profession help.
The homegrown talent is apparent – the intangibles are what have set this group aside.
“I would say the team culture is different than any other team I’ve been on,” Weiss stated. “We all love each other, support each other on and off the court and in every aspect of life.”
Two years in the past, coach Kelsee Montagna was handed a program that seemed quite a bit completely different.
“I knew there needed to be a culture change,” she stated.
The small shift in strategy led to a much bigger shift on the court docket. A roster crammed with Central Valley natives displaying up for this system is seeing the Central Valley present up for them.
