The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, Ministry of Science and Technology, has appointed Giridhar Parvatam because the new director of the distinguished CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru. Mr. Parvatam assumed cost of his new function on Monday.
Mr. Parvatam, 56, holds an M.Sc. diploma in Botany (Specialisation in Microbiology) and a Ph.D. in Botany (Specialisation in Microbiology), each from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana. He joined CSIR-CFTRI as Scientist ‘B’ in 1999, and has served in a number of positions on the institute. In addition to his analysis roles, he additionally works as a professor on the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR).
A researcher in Food Science and Technology, Microbiology and Biotechnology, Mr. Parvatam is a fellow of a number of prestigious establishments, together with the Royal Society of Biology (U.Okay.), National Academy of Biological Sciences, Indian Botanical Society, and others. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad, and the Plant Tissue Culture Association of India, a press launch from CSIR-CFTRI mentioned.
