Five German climbers have died after being caught in an avalanche in the Italian Alps, native authorities mentioned on Sunday.

The climbers had set out on Saturday to scale Cima Vertana in the Ortler mountain vary close to the village of Solda. The avalanche struck as they headed for the summit.

The cascade of snow and ice swept away members of two separate rope groups. The our bodies of two males and a lady have been recovered on Saturday whereas the 2 different victims, a father and his 17-year-old daughter, have been discovered on Sunday.

Two different climbers escaped unhurt.

The Ortler massif, a part of the Italian Alps near the Swiss border, is a well-liked vacation spot for skilled hikers and climbers.
