The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), working with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the General Services Administration (GSA), the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and company leaders throughout the federal authorities, have introduced the creation of the United States Tech Force. This is a cross-government initiative geared toward recruiting technologists to help federal know-how modernization efforts.
According to the announcement, this system aligns with the Administration’s broader synthetic intelligence and know-how priorities, which emphasize private-sector innovation alongside elevated technical capability throughout the federal workforce. The Tech Force is meant to deploy groups of engineers, information scientists, and know-how professionals to work on large-scale authorities challenges, with alternatives for collaboration with private-sector corporations and participation in technical coaching packages.
OPM Director Scott Kupor described the initiative as an effort to entice skilled technologists into public service.
“This is a clarion call,” Kupor stated. “If you want to help your country lead in the age of rapid technological advancement, we need you. Tech Force offers the chance to build and lead projects of national importance, while creating powerful career opportunities in both public service and the private sector. Under this system, collaborating technologists are anticipated to help mission-critical initiatives throughout a variety of federal departments and businesses, together with the Departments of State, Treasury, War, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security, in addition to businesses such because the Small Business Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, OPM, and GSA.
