A youngster has secured a spot in the national softball team after studying the game from his dad – who can be teaching the team.
Joseph Partridge, from Yeovil in Somerset, can be taking part in quick pitch softball for Team GB under-16s, who’re coached by his dad Matt Partridge.

The team are getting ready to journey to the European Championships, which occur from 29 June to 4 July in Czechia.
Joseph, 15, stated: “I’ve been throwing balls around in the garden with my dad basically since as soon as I could walk. It was amazing.”

“I know a lot of boys, it’s a good group. I’ve loved every step of it.
“You meet a great deal of totally different folks and cultures. Everyone is at all times very respectful and enjoyable,” Joseph added.
Matt got Joseph interested in softball after being introduced to it himself in 1989.
“I grew up in south Devon and we performed regionally. It’s not an enormous sport in the UK, so we travelled to Holland, Germany, we performed in the USA. It was an unimaginable expertise for me,” Matt said.

“We began having a household and I performed much less. I obtained extra concerned in encouraging my children.”

Matt said softball has always been more popular in mainland Europe, but it is now growing in the UK.
“It’s fairly a specialist sport and we have seen it develop,” he added.
“There’s a transparent pathway for boys however for the women it is much more excessive profile. There’s the world championships developing quickly and Britain has obtained an incredible team.
“It’s a great time for softball in this country.”
