The European Space Agency (ESA) is spotlighting the achievements of girls on the forefront of European science and know-how this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, becoming a member of forces with organizations throughout the EIROforum community. A placing collage options seven main STEM professionals – together with ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot – from amenities like CERN, EMBL, and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, showcasing the breadth of feminine expertise driving innovation. These ladies, together with predoctoral fellow Soraya Zwahlen and Group Leader Dr Sara Casalbuoni, exemplify the ability of collaboration and inclusivity. Their collective experiences, ESA highlights, underscore a important message: “Together, their experiences and words of wisdom underscore the importance of community, mutual support and inclusive practices in closing the gender gap in STEM.”

EIROforum Celebrates Women in European Science

This visible illustration goals to amplify the voices of these typically underrepresented in STEM fields. Asar Jaradat, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD Fellow at CERN, and Dr Sara Casalbuoni, Group Leader for Undulator Systems at European XFEL, additional exemplify this range.

STEM Professionals Featured: Zwahlen, Jaradat, Torres & Others

The collaborative initiative spotlighting ladies in STEM reveals a broad spectrum of experience throughout European analysis establishments. Cristina González Torres, a Survey and Alignment Engineer on the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), contributes to developments in synchrotron technology, whereas Paula Sánchez Sáez helps astronomical analysis as a User Support Astronomer on the European Southern Observatory (ESO). Dr Sara Casalbuoni leads the Undulator Systems group at European XFEL, specializing in the event of essential elements for X-ray analysis, and Giuliana Manzin heads the Design and Calculation Office on the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), driving innovation in neutron science.

This various group, alongside ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, demonstrates the multifaceted nature of latest STEM fields. The featured professionals symbolize establishments together with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the place Soraya Zwahlen is a predoctoral fellow, and CERN, the place Asar Jaradat is pursuing a PhD as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow.

To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, ESA joined organisations throughout the EIROforum community to have fun the variety of girls shaping science and know-how in Europe.
