A person was killed Wednesday after fleeing a US Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas in a stolen car, main regulation enforcement on a high-speed chase and freeway shootout, state authorities say.
The man, recognized as 33-year-old Wisconsin resident James Douglas McMillan, was crossing by the Sierra Blanca checkpoint – a distant Border Patrol station about 90 miles east of El Paso – when a Border Patrol drug Okay-9 alerted to his car, in line with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
