THROUGH varied initiatives spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the municipality of Pasacao, Camarines Sur — identified as the “Summer Capital of Bicol” — is steadily progressing towards its purpose of turning into the “Green City of the South.”

In an interview on Radyo Siyensya, DOST Bicol Regional Director Rommel Serrano defined that Pasacao is specializing in applications and initiatives, grounded in the ideas of a inexperienced metropolis to deal with native challenges.

Under this initiative, DOST Bicol Region and the Pasacao native authorities are working with 5 state universities and faculties (SUCs) in the area, every contributing in accordance to its space of experience.

These establishments embrace the University of Nueva Caceres, Partido State University (PSU), Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), and Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BisCast).

PSU focuses on analysis and improvement in fish processing, a serious native trade in Pasacao, whereas CBSUA is engaged on the rehabilitation of river habitats utilizing bioengineered mangrove vetiver methods.

Meanwhile, alongside the development of Bicol Region’s first “green building” municipal corridor, BisCast is main the architectural improvement of the facility, whereas CSPC is spearheading the municipality’s e-governance initiative by means of the digitalization of authorities processes.
