
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 9: The Department of Science & Technology (DST) celebrated World Environment Day (WED) 2026 underneath the theme ‘Climate Action,’ marking the event with a large regional plantation drive and a shift towards enhanced digital administration. The collaborative marketing campaign mobilized numerous administrative departments and establishments to plant a staggering 18,068 saplings working in direction of enhancement of inexperienced cowl within the area.
The important campus occasion was formally inaugurated by Shri Rakesh Das, Director, Science and Technology, who planted a sapling on the workplace premises. As half of the initiative, 100 saplings had been distributed to local people teams and college students. Staff members of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), together with scholar interns from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, actively participated in greening the campus by means of plantation actions and the distribution of saplings to the local people.
In a parallel transfer towards modernization, the Member Secretary, ANPCC-cum-Director (Science & Technology), formally launched the onboarding of the Andaman and Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC) onto the Unified Consent and Authorisation Management System (UCAMS) Portal, developed and designed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), New Delhi, for the grant of Consent to Establish (CTE), Consent to Operate (CTO), and Authorisation to all industrial items within the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
