Sri Vijaya Puram, April 22: The Department of Science and Technology (DST), A&N Administration, marked Earth Day 2026 with a sequence of vibrant and academic actions geared toward fostering environmental consciousness amongst college college students and the broader group. As half of the celebrations, a portray competitors on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet” was performed just lately on the Science & Technology Awareness Hub for college kids of Classes VI to VIII. A Nature Trekking programme was organized on April 17 at Chidiyatapu, involving college students and academics of GSSS Bathubasti. Guided by Dr. B. Sumit Kumar Rao, Entomologist (NVBDCP), and different specialists, college students explored the area’s wealthy biodiversity. The trek included chook watching at Bada Balu space, providing hands-on studying about native flora and ecological conservation.
On April 18, DST employees performed a seaside cleansing drive at Corbyn’s Cove Beach. The celebrations culminated at this time with a tree plantation drive on the DST campus in Dollygunj. The Secretary of Science & Technology inaugurated the programme by planting saplings. In his tackle, the chief visitor highlighted the significance of environmental safety and sustainable dwelling, urging collective duty towards preserving the planet: Mother Earth.
