SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Seminole County nonprofit that helps youth athletes is asking on the neighborhood to assist discover a new place to retailer and distribute sports gear.
Sports 4 the Kids (S4TK) offers free donated athletic gear and raises funds to assist pay league registration charges for kids to take part in native sports packages.
For 12 years, S4TK has operated out of a donated warehouse area from Seminole County Public Schools, however lately the nonprofit discovered the property was being offered.
“We’ve been very grateful for SCPS, which has provided us the location,” stated Danny Trosset, president and government director of Sports 4 the Kids. “Unfortunately, this building is being sold. So they’ve given us a notice that we need to be out by Aug. 1.”
Currently, the nonprofit’s sports gear is saved at a facility in Lake Mary.
Trosset stated S4TK is wanting for roughly 1,000 sq. toes of ideally air-conditioned area in a Central Florida Location.
“The challenge is if we don’t have an air-conditioned space, some of our sports equipment falls apart,” Trosset stated. “The humidity quickly deteriorates some of our sports equipment.”
Elijah Allen is a teen who beforehand sought assist by Sports 4 the Kids and needs to see the nonprofit discover assist from the neighborhood.
“When I was younger, we weren’t able to get that much sports equipment, and I feel like it’s very important what they’re doing,” Allen stated.
Trosset stated he’s hopeful to discover a donated area or one at a diminished value, so scholarship alternatives for younger athletes gained’t be affected.
“I know our community wants to give back,” Trosset stated. “We’re counting our blessings and hopeful that we can find a new home.”
