Three Chula Researchers Receive 2025 Toray Science and Technology Research Grants 

Chulalongkorn University proudly congratulates three of its college researchers who’ve been awarded the 2025 Science and Technology Research Grants from the Toray Science Foundation (Thailand). This 12 months, a complete of 20 researchers had been recipients of the grants.

The thirty second annual award and grant presentation ceremony was held on March 6, 2026, at The Athenee Hotel Bangkok, with Gen. Surayud Chulanont, President of the Privy Council, presiding over the ceremony.

The Science and Technology Research Grant from the Toray Science Foundation (Thailand) helps college members and researchers conducting initiatives that contribute to the development of scientific and technological information in Thailand. The grant covers analysis fields together with agriculture, chemistry, engineering, and physics, serving to strengthen Thailand’s science and know-how growth. 

The three Chulalongkorn University researchers who obtained the 2025 Science and Technology Research Grants are the next:

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Wiwittawin Sukmas, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, for the venture titled, “High-Performance Semiconductor-Based Sensors for Pollution Detection Designed by Machine Learning Models.” 
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aksara Putthividhya, Department of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, obtained funding for the venture, “Design and Development of Integrated Nature-Based Measures to Reduce Area-Based Flood and Drought Risks and Enhance Knowledge Capacity for Climate Change Adaptation in the Lower Chao Phraya River Basin.” 
  • Dr. Rongrong Cheacharoen, Professional Researcher on the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Research, for the venture, “Development of Perovskite Ink Using Green Solvents Derived from Oil Palm Biomass through In-Situ Crystallization Mechanism Analysis during Film Formation for Solar Cell Production under Ambient Conditions.”
