Earlier this week, NeurIPS modified its coverage to adjust to U.S. legal guidelines, successfully banning a number of Chinese firms from submitting analysis. The transfer ignited outrage in China, as NeurIPS is a key platform for world AI analysis collaboration. In response, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) will redirect funds to conferences that respect Chinese tutorial rights.
The dispute underscores broader geopolitical frictions affecting AI analysis, because the U.S. raises scrutiny on Chinese scientists and imposes sanctions on Chinese tech entities.
