The Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar (RVP) 2026 is India’s premier nationwide award for science, know-how, and innovation given by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The awards are categorized into 4 ranges resembling Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva, and Vigyan Team—recognizing excellence throughout 14 scientific domains. Objectives:

Categories: 

The awards shall be given within the following 4 classes: ­

1. Vigyan Ratna (VR): awarded to acknowledge lifetime achievements and contributions to any subject of science and know-how.

2. Vigyan Shri (VS): awarded to acknowledge distinguished service in any subject of science and particular technological area. .

3. Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB): awarded to acknowledge & encourage younger scientists (as much as 45 years) who’ve proven extraordinary potential in Science and know-how. 

4. Vigyan Team (VT): Recognizes collaborative excellence the place a bunch of three or extra scientists has achieved a serious milestone in any subject of science and know-how. .

Note: The RVP awards for People of Indian Origin ought to have a most restrict in every class (VR ­1; VS ­ 3; VY­-SSB ­ 3; VT ­ 0) to encourage India-based scientists, technologists, innovators, and groups.

 Eligibility:

Who Can Apply?

• Core Fields: There are 14 sectors consists of  Agricultural Science, Atomic Energy, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Defence Technology, Earth Science, Engineering Sciences, Environmental Science, Mathematics & Computer Science, Medicine, Physics, Space Science and Technology, Technology & Innovation, and Others
• How to Nominate: Nominations are accepted by the official Awards Portal (https://awards.gov.in). The course of permits for self-nomination or suggestions by acknowledged scientific establishments
• Timeline for Nomination: The nomination window for 2026 has been opened on 28/03/2026 until 11/03/2026. the ceremony is held yearly on National Space Day (August twenty third)
