Ecobiz.asia — Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan-based know-how agency CAST Inc. to develop sensor applied sciences for the power and manufacturing sectors.

The settlement was signed by Aam Muharam of BRIN’s Organization for Energy and Manufacturing Research (OREM) and CAST Inc. CEO Kei Nakatsuma on the B.J. Habibie Science and Technology Park in Serpong on April 15, 2026.

According to a press release cited on Monday (April 20, 2026), the collaboration will deal with the appliance of sensor applied sciences to help each fossil-based and renewable power industries, together with gas-fired energy crops, geothermal power, and hydrogen applied sciences.

BRIN has appointed Head of the Research Center for Energy Conversion Technology, Tata Sutardi, to coordinate the implementation of the collaboration.

The analysis actions will even contain PLN Nusantara Power and Pertamina Geothermal Energy to strengthen know-how growth within the power sector.

The partnership covers joint analysis, trade of scientific information and data, shared use of analysis services, and the group of scientific actions comparable to seminars and workshops.

In addition, the cooperation goals to improve human useful resource capability and develop information trade between Indonesia and Japan.

The MoU might be legitimate for three years and could also be prolonged upon mutual settlement. The partnership marks an preliminary step in strengthening bilateral analysis collaboration to drive technological innovation within the power and manufacturing industries. ***
