
Kenya has formally launched the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya AIST), a postgraduate analysis university modeled on the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, marking a significant step in Africa’s science and know-how ambitions.
In a press release shared with The Korea Herald, the Kenyan Embassy in Seoul cited the establishment as Africa’s first university to be modelled on KAIST and an emblem of the continent’s shift towards homegrown innovation and scientific options.
The university will provide superior programmes in synthetic intelligence, nuclear science, vaccine improvement, quantum computing and engineering, fields seen as crucial to the longer term world financial system.
The embassy mentioned Kenya’s youthful and entrepreneurial inhabitants, alongside its robust tech ecosystem exemplified by cellular cash platform M-Pesa, positions the nation to lead Africa’s subsequent wave of innovation.
Kenyan President William Ruto awarded the university’s constitution at a ceremony in Nairobi attended by senior South Korean officers, together with National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik, highlighting rising Korea-Kenya cooperation in science, know-how and better training.
