Bret Taylor’s artificial intelligence startup Sierra has simply joined an unique membership: The firm sports activities a brand new $10 billion valuation after elevating $350 million in recent capital.
Sierra is certainly one of only a handful of AI startups, together with OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Safe Superintelligence and Thinking Machines which are valued at or above $10 billion.
Investors are pouring cash into this aggressive group of firms in the hopes that they’re going to finally hit the public markets.
Taylor is the chairman of OpenAI’s board, and beforehand served as co-CEO of Salesforce alongside Marc Benioff. Taylor co-founded Sierra in 2023. The firm builds and implements AI brokers for customer support. AI brokers can perform duties autonomously on behalf of their customers.
Shares of Salesforce fell 5% Thursday after the firm reported weak steerage and considerations lingered about how AI is affecting software firms.
Sierra stated its brokers are already being utilized by “hundreds of millions of people” to assist with duties like refinancing properties, ordering lunch, delivering furnishings, understanding insurance coverage deductibles and fixing know-how, amongst different issues.
Greenoaks led Sierra’s latest funding spherical, the firm stated. Its valuation greater than doubled from its most recent elevate in October.
“We’re in this for the long term,” Sierra stated in a blog post on Thursday.
The firm stated it can use its recent funding to spend money on its platform and deal with home and worldwide growth.
Sierra’s funding follows a flurry of different main AI raises in Silicon Valley. Earlier this week, Anthropic announced it had closed a $13 billion funding spherical at a $183 billion post-money valuation.
