WILLIAMSBURG — The Marshalltown boys’ wrestling staff took third place at the Williamsburg Duals on Saturday, going 3-2 on the day.

The Bobcats improved to 4-2 on the season by defeating Pella (47-35), Central DeWitt (48-31) and the Southeast Polk JV (56-16). MHS fell to Williamsburg (50-24) and Davenport Assumption (54-24). Assumption defeated the host Raiders 47-28 to assert the staff title.

Marshalltown was led by 144-pounder Nicholas Wise, who went 5-0 with 5 pins. A trio of Bobcats went 4-1 on the day: Nicholas Million at 120, Dalton Zednichek at 190 and Ignacio Macias at 285. Million and Macias had 4 pins apiece, whereas Zednichek had two pins.

Anthony Chavez went 3-1 at 157, whereas Yandel Manning (138), Colby Cross (150) and Carson Wright (165) all completed 3-2 for the event. Wright’s three wins all got here by pinfall, whereas Manning and Cross had two pins every.

MHS women seventh at BGM Duals

BROOKLYN — The Marshalltown women’ wrestling staff took seventh place at the BGM Duals on Saturday, whereas the South Hardin-BCLUW squad scored third.

Marshalltown sustained losses to SH-BCLUW (48-34), Iowa City Liberty (61-14) and Gilbert (42-36) earlier than beating Nevada, 48-36, to assert the seventh-place match.

The Storm toppled Marshalltown and Gilbert (48-36) earlier than falling to Iowa City Liberty (60-24). SH-BCLUW defeated Colfax-Mingo 42-33 within the bout for third place.

Marshalltown was led on the day by Erandy Ibarra at 100 kilos and Olivia Wise at 190, as each went 3-1.

Seven extra MHS wrestlers went 2-2 in the course of the meet: Shailynn Sadie (115), Patricia Mateo Merida (120), Faith Sommerlot (125), Madylin McDonald (145), Addyson Lovelace (155), Ella DeMonte (170) and Nevaeh Gonzales (235). Lovelace and Gonzales each had two pins, whereas McDonald had a pin and a significant choice.

The Storm have been led by three 4-0 wrestlers for the day: Ceanna White (135), Taya Hollingsworth (155) and Megyn Hollingsworth (170). White picked up three pins and a forfeit, Taya had two pins and two forfeits, and Megyn had 4 pinfalls in a complete time of 5 minutes, 51 seconds.

Hailee Robinson (105), Khloe Neal (110) and Kaitlynn Dickes (190) every completed 3-1 with two pins apiece.
