HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) – A former sports reporter in Alabama was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, in keeping with authorities.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, two folks have been found unresponsive by a member of the family of their residence within the 700 block of Highland Manor Court in Hoover, a suburb of Birmingham.

Both folks suffered gunshot wounds and have been found dead on the scene, Hoover police stated.

Birmingham Gray affiliate WBRC confirmed that one of many two folks was former reporter Christina Chambers.

She was a mom to a 3-year-old boy, who was found unhurt inside the house.

WBRC stated Chambers was identified for her fast wit, smile, heat, care and love for the UAB Blazers and highschool sports.

“She was one of the sweetest, most loving people that I know. She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life,” stated longtime WBRC reporter and sports anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt. “I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson Families, and her WBRC Family.”

She appeared on the station’s highschool soccer program Sideline each Friday night time and ceaselessly stepped in to assist anchor protection of the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, even whereas she was operating the race herself.

After leaving her full-time position in July 2021, she continued to freelance for WBRC’s Sideline through the 2025 soccer season.

Before becoming a member of the WBRC 6 News sports crew, Christina served as a sports reporter/anchor at WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama. She started her broadcast profession as a sports and information reporter at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, earlier than becoming a member of the regional sports community Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta.
