CQE’s collaboration drive

Like different rising quantum hubs, CQE’s mission is centered round advancing quantum know-how by a broader neighborhood of companions.

In collaboration with main universities, nationwide labs, and business companions, CQE is advancing the science and engineering of quantum info, making ready the quantum workforce, and driving the quantum financial system.

It relies on the University of Chicago and anchored by the US Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Northwestern University, and Purdue University, and contains greater than 50 company, worldwide, nonprofit, and regional companions.

The CQE neighborhood contains 210+ scientists and engineers throughout seven member establishments.

One instance of the CQE’s work was seen not too long ago when the University of Chicago and companions acquired $4 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to design next-generation quantum computer systems for broad scientific and academic entry.

As it strikes into its second section, the Quantum Advantage-Class Trapped Ion System (QACTI) mission goals to construct two quantum computing methods: a 60-qubit “proof of concept” machine anticipated by 2029, and a 256-qubit ion entice laptop by 2033.
