SUNY Potsdam legendary basketball coach Jerry Welsh has handed away on the age of 89.
Jerry’s son Tim, an analyst for ESPN, confirmed his passing. Jerry Welsh served because the Bears coach in 1968-69 and from 1970-71 by 1990-91.
In these 22 seasons, he guided the Bears to a 494-143 document for a .776 successful share. His groups received eight SUNYAC Titles throughout his tenure and reached the NCAA Tournament 15 occasions. Welsh led the Bears to the NCAA Championship recreation 5 occasions, successful titles in 1980-81 and 1985-86. He earned NCAA Division III Coach of the Year honors in every championship season.
