Alex MacCallum has been promoted to chief working officer at NCS, an extra indication of the significance that CEO Mark Thompson has positioned on digital and streaming.

MacCallum has served as govt vp of digital services for the previous two years. In a memo to staff on Thursday, Thompson wrote that MacCallum “is already playing a crucial role in turning our vision of the future NCS into a reality.”

Her duties will broaden to incorporate oversight of shopper technique, operations, mission-driven undertaking work and strategic partnerships and enterprise growth, Thompson wrote.

“Alex has already achieved an impressive set of critical accomplishments in record time,” he wrote. “On top of building a world-class digital operation and transforming our core products, she’s led and launched a direct-to-consumer sub business, assembled a set of outstanding leaders in audience, data, product and tech, engagement and monetization, and has built excellent collaborative working relationships with all of NCS’s other top leaders.”

NCS launched All Access, a subscription tier that features a streaming feed of the linear community, in October. Thompson has prioritized the mixing of digital with the community’s linear operations, that are grappling with wire reducing and the final shift to streaming and social media.

Before her present NCS tenure, MacCallum was chief income officer at The Washington Post. Before that, she was world head of product for NCS Worldwide and basic supervisor of NCS+, the latter of which was shut down after only one month by new father or mother Warner Bros. Discovery. She beforehand spent eight years at The New York Times.
