Eight children had been shot and killed and two others had been wounded throughout three properties in south Shreveport, Louisiana, early Sunday in what authorities are calling a “domestic disturbance.” The victims ranged in age from 1 to 14.

Police responded to studies of photographs fired in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveport simply after 6 a.m. CT and discovered victims in two properties alongside West 79th Street and a 3rd house on close by Harrison Street, Shreveport police Cpl. Chris Bordelon stated.

“This is a very large scene with multiple deceased children present,” Bordelon stated.

The particular person liable for the deaths was shot and killed by Shreveport officers after a quick chase, based on Bordelon. Investigators consider the particular person is said to at the least among the victims, he stated.

The suspect carjacked a car and led police on a chase into the subsequent parish, Bordelon stated.

“The vehicle was chased into Bossier Parish, and at which point in time, Shreveport police officers did discharge their firearm, and that individual is deceased,” he stated.

The Louisiana State Police are investigating the officer-involved taking pictures.

“Investigators are working to process the scene and gather further information,” state police stated in a statement. No officers had been injured, state police stated.

“This is a tragic situation, maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had in Shreveport,” Mayor Tom Arceneaux stated.

“I just don’t know what to say, you know? My heart is just taken aback. I just cannot begin to imagine how such an event can occur,” Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith stated.

Police haven’t launched the names of the victims or the suspected shooter.

“I want to let the community know that all of my resources are out here, processing every piece of evidence and everything, and at some time in the near future, we’ll be able to give more conclusive information about exactly what took place,” Smith stated.

This is a growing story and might be up to date.
