British journalist and commentator Sami Hamdi has referred to as his detention “an attack on the freedoms of ordinary Americans” after he returned to the UK. Hamdi was held by ICE for greater than two weeks whereas on a talking tour across the nation. At the time, US immigration authorities informed Hamdi he was detained after overstaying his US visa. Hamdi and his authorized crew mentioned he was within the US on a sound visa.
