# US Fails to Provide Timely Warnings to Ukraine on Russian Missile Attack

The US may not have provided timely warnings to Ukraine about a recent Russian missile attack on Kyiv and other locations.

Reports have emerged that the US may not have provided timely warnings to Ukraine about a recent Russian missile attack on Kyiv and other locations. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine received no advance warning from its international partners when Russia launched a massive ballistic missile barrage early Tuesday.

The attack, which targeted energy and critical infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv, resulted in the deaths of six people and left around 600,000 without power. In addition to the ballistic missiles, over 120 attack drones and loitering munitions were also deployed by Russia during the overnight assault.

The US has been providing intelligence to Ukraine, including data from satellites and aircraft sensors, to aid in both offensive and defensive military capabilities. This information helps identify launches of Russian aircraft and missiles, enabling Ukraine's military to prepare for potential attacks.

However, Ukrainian officials and soldiers have reported experiencing difficulties with Starlink technology on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, which is owned by SpaceX's Elon Musk. The issues may be related to the recent strikes in Kyiv, but it is unclear whether this was a deliberate effort by Russia or an unintended consequence of its military operations.

US officials have maintained that their intelligence sharing with Ukraine has not ceased overall, but rather that there was a specific incident where they did not provide warning about this week's attacks.

Ukraine relies heavily on the Starlink satellite internet service to facilitate communication and carry out military operations in areas where electronic warfare is prevalent.

The service's importance was highlighted by Ukraine's former minister of defense Mykhailo Fedorov in an earlier interview, who stated that it enables Ukrainian soldiers to communicate and conduct strikes even in environments saturated with electronic warfare.

The investigation into potential US withholding of warnings to Ukraine regarding the deadly Kyiv strikes continues. SpaceX, the White House, and the Pentagon have all been contacted for comment but have yet to respond.

Ukraine's former minister of defense Mykhailo Fedorov described the service as crucial in an earlier interview, allowing Ukrainian soldiers to communicate and conduct strikes even in environments with limited access. A high-ranking official has since stated that Russia views US warnings as weak, claiming "Russia does not consider the statements of the President of America to be strong." This sentiment was echoed by a recent post on X, where it was noted that the strike against Kyiv was deliberate and unprecedented in its scale.
