The acquisition coincides with Tatas’ efforts to ramp up its iPhone manufacturing capability, and a report quantity of Apple smartphones being exported from India.
Justech Precision, primarily based in Kunshan metropolis in Jiangsu province of China, has been an Apple supplier since 2008. Its India arm was included in 2019, with headquarters in Tamil Nadu. The company accomplished the acquisition in August, with HSBC Bank and HDFC Bank as advisors, the CNBC report stated, citing folks within the know.
Tatas’ iPhone capability
Tata has been desperate to take advantage of Apple’s plans to extend iPhone manufacturing in India. In January, the Tata Electronics bought a 60% stake in Pegatron’s India operations for Rs 1,650 crore, as per filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The acquisition gave it entry to the latter’s iPhone manufacturing facility close to Chennai.
In FY25, iPhone shipments to the US accounted for nearly 37% of Tata Electronics’ income, at Rs 23,112 crore.
The company undertook iPhone meeting and exports from two services, together with that of Wistron, which it had acquired in March 2024. Tata Electronics Systems Solutions, previously Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing India, at present operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the flagship holding company, Tata Electronics.
The accelerated ramp-up in iPhone manufacturing in India can be mirrored within the surge in Tata Electronics Systems’ financials. The company clocked whole revenues of Rs 75,367 crore within the 15 months via March 2025, a more-than-fivefold rise from Rs 14,350 crore in calendar 12 months 2023, as per filings with the RoC. Net revenue rose to Rs 2,339 crore through the January 2024-March 2025 interval from Rs 36 crore in 2023. The company has modified its monetary 12 months to April-March and therefore the 15-month interval.
