# Russian Attack on Humanitarian Aid Site Leaves 31 Dead

A devastating Russian attack on a humanitarian aid site in southern Ukraine has resulted in 31 fatalities and left dozens missing.

A devastating Russian attack on a humanitarian aid site in southern Ukraine has resulted in 31 fatalities and left dozens missing, as the conflict continues to intensify across the country.

Rescue efforts are underway in Komyushuvakha, a village in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, where teams of rescuers and volunteers have been searching for survivors among the rubble. The destruction is extensive, with a destroyed aid facility and shelter bearing the brunt of the attack, and more than 45 residents are still unaccounted for.

The tragedy has left local officials reeling, with Mykhailo Semikin, acting head of the region's military administration, describing the scale of the disaster as "terrifying". This is one of the worst civilian casualty incidents in the region since the start of the conflict.

The attack on Ukraine is part of a wider wave of strikes launched by Russia across nine regions, with 289 attack drones and missiles being fired. The assault has triggered emergency power cuts, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted that it coincided with U.S. elections.

Russian forces have been accused of deliberately targeting humanitarian aid sites in Ukraine, sparking outrage from international leaders who are calling for an end to the missile strikes.

In Zaporizhzhia, a city in eastern Ukraine, three days of mourning were declared after Russian bunker-busting bombs caused widespread destruction and loss of life. The attack on Monday was particularly devastating, with nearly 1.5 tons of explosives used in the assault.

The death toll from the strike continues to rise, with four police officers and two rescue workers among those killed. At least five people are being treated for injuries sustained during the attack, which has left many still missing.

In other parts of Ukraine, Russian forces have been waging a separate campaign of terror, with a combined missile and drone attack in Kharkiv's northeast region leaving at least 62 people wounded. Local authorities report that windows were shattered in four apartment buildings, cars damaged, and patients transferred to other medical facilities due to the destruction caused by the strike on a medical facility in the Nemyshlianskyi district.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has taken a devastating toll on civilians as well as infrastructure, with the latest development being a significant escalation in attacks on energy facilities.

Ukraine's energy ministry reported that Moscow launched 20 strikes across 10 regions overnight, causing extensive damage to power plants and resulting in electricity outages. This is not an isolated incident, as Russian forces have been targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent weeks, preparing for the harsh winter ahead.

In a separate development, Russia claimed to have shot down 856 Ukrainian drones overnight, while Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that 493 drones were fired towards the capital city. These claims come as part of an ongoing military operation where both sides are engaged in a fierce aerial battle.

The conflict has also taken a toll on civilians, with rolling blackouts instituted in parts of Russian-occupied Crimea due to attacks on energy infrastructure.
