The Whaler volleyball workforce was in a position to beat the St. John Paul II Lions 3-0 at house on Monday however misplaced to the Mashpee Falcons 3-0 on Tuesday. Whaler head coach Makaila Lyons attributed Tuesday’s defeat to self-inflicted errors whereas praising her workforce’s power and cohesiveness within the win on Monday.

“We were successful at the net blocking. We were successful at the net tipping. We were successful covering tips on defense today. So that was really nice,” Lyons mentioned following Tuesday’s match towards Mashpee. “Places where we needed to be better or room for improvement, self-inflicted errors. (Mashpee) has some strong hitters, but most of the points that they got were things that we did to ourselves, not things that they did to us. So like service errors, being in the net, just silly things that we can be better at.

“(Against SJP), we played consistent. (SJP) was not more difficult skill wise,” Lyons continued. “They also had a couple really good hitters. We played more together (Monday) than I think we did today. I think towards the end of the third, we started to see what we were doing yesterday. Playing more cohesively, playing together, not letting the ball die, not having as many errors, those things that we did really well yesterday, we didn’t start to do until closer to the third, the end of the third today.”
