# Midi Health Aims to Modernize Women's Healthcare

Joanna Strober, the CEO and cofounder of Midi Health, has dedicated herself to modernizing women's healthcare through her innovative platform.

Joanna Strober is the CEO of Midi Health, a virtual care platform that provides specialized healthcare services to women in perimenopause and menopause.

As the 58-year-old cofounder and CEO of Midi Health, based in Los Altos Hills, California, she is dedicated to modernizing women's healthcare through her innovative platform.

The company was founded with the goal of bridging the gap in healthcare by offering insurance-covered care for women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Midi Health aims to fill a significant void in healthcare services that cater specifically to the needs of this demographic.

Strober's personal experience played a pivotal role in shaping her vision for Midi Health. With three young children to care for and a demanding career, she found herself neglecting her own health for many years.

Taking care of her family and working was an all-consuming endeavor that left little time for self-care.

However, a turning point came when Strober suffered a small fall at the age of 44, resulting in a fractured shoulder and a diagnosis of osteopenia, low bone density.

Strober's daily routine is centered around physical activity and healthy eating habits.

She begins each morning by walking for an hour, a consistent practice she has maintained for years. This period of exercise serves as a crucial part of her daily schedule, one that helps set the tone for the rest of the day. In addition to her walk, Strober starts her day with two Nespresso pods and two pieces of Levain bread from Manresa Bread.

The dense multigrain loaf has become an integral component of her morning routine, something she has relied on for over a decade. This bakery-bought breakfast choice helps keep her satisfied until lunchtime, providing the necessary energy to tackle her busy schedule. After completing her morning walk, Strober heads to the office where she attends product meetings and participates in numerous Zoom calls.

Despite her hectic workday, Strober tries to fit in another 45-minute walk around lunchtime. However, this goal is not always achievable due to the demands of her job. When she does manage to sneak in some extra walking time, it allows her to clear her mind and recharge before tackling the rest of her day.

As part of her self-care routine, Strober prioritizes maintaining strong bones through a combination of supplements and hormone replacement therapy. She takes Midi's Omega-3+ supplement, which contains not only essential fatty acids but also vitamins D and K to support bone health. This is particularly important given that she has osteopenia, a condition characterized by low bone mass.

In addition to her omega-3 supplement, Strober also incorporates creatine and fiber into her daily regimen. She can choose between Midi's fiber gummies or ensure a sufficient intake of fiber through her diet. Her supplement routine is designed to support overall health and well-being, rather than being overly restrictive or prescriptive.

With more freedom in her schedule now that her children are no longer living at home, Strober has found it easier to balance work and personal life. She's able to work later into the evening without feeling constrained by traditional routines, which she credits as a liberating experience.

In terms of her daily meals, Strober doesn't feel overly concerned about what she eats. Her typical lunch might consist of a salad or sandwich, while other days see her picking up food on the go or cooking simple pasta dishes at home.

As part of her self-care routine, Strober enjoys a simple yet sweet treat in the evenings - low-sugar blackberry jam paired with chocolate ice cream, sourced from the local farmers market.

Regular physical activity is crucial for maintaining mental well-being, and Strober prioritizes walking as her go-to stress-reliever. She tackles The Dish, a challenging three-and-a-half-mile uphill hike in Palo Alto, at least twice every weekend.

In addition to her daily walks, which often exceed 10,000 steps, Strober experiments with meditation through various apps. While she admits that its effectiveness is uncertain, she remains committed to exploring this mindfulness practice.

To incorporate social interaction into her walking routine, Strober schedules regular walks with different friends throughout the week. On weekends, she also spends time at the farmers market, where she sources ingredients for home-cooked meals - a tradition that includes her 81-year-old mother cooking dinner for her family every Friday night.

As a CEO, she has a demanding schedule, but she still makes time for cooking dinner every Friday night for her husband and herself.

This tradition brings her comfort and peace of mind, knowing that she'll have a good meal and someone will take care of her.

She feels fortunate to have this routine in her life, especially after raising children who are now grown and independent.

Her appreciation for this simple pleasure is evident in the way she cherishes it.

As someone who has witnessed the effects of aging on loved ones, particularly those with Alzheimer's, she is determined to stay healthy and prevent age-related diseases.

She acknowledges that certain health issues, such as heart disease, bone disease, and cancer, are a concern for her, but she prioritizes preventive measures.

To maintain her well-being, she focuses on basic habits like getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, and engaging in regular exercise.
