# Meta's AI Agent Helps Plan Weekend Activities

A man uses Meta's personal AI agent, Muse, to plan activities for his wife's birthday weekend.

My wife's birthday is just two days away, and I'm still scrambling to plan a memorable weekend for her. The problem is that it coincides with Halloween, which means many people will be out celebrating or recovering from celebrations. According to my wife, everyone seems to be hungover on this day every year.

This time around, we've managed to secure dinner reservations at a restaurant she's been wanting to try for ages. With just one gift and a meal planned, I decided to see if Meta's personal AI agent, Muse, could help me plan the rest of our weekend activities.

Muse has already proven itself useful in the past, particularly when I used it to find a great deal on Facebook Marketplace. Given its connections with various services like Ticketmaster and OpenTable, I hoped it would be able to suggest some fun events or even make arrangements for us.

My goal was to see if Muse could help me plan everything from one interface, without having to juggle multiple agents or apps. Could it find the perfect weekend activities, order a cake delivery, or even create customized wrapping paper? Let's see how well Muse can help me become a planning expert.

To start fresh, I opened a new chat for this specific goal and shared my plans with Muse, dinner reservations in place and one gift secured. I then asked it to suggest some free events happening in Manhattan on Saturday and our local neighborhood on Sunday.

The AI assistant suggested several routes for viewing the Halloween parade in Manhattan, taking into account the expected crowd density and movement patterns around 7:30 p.m. It provided options for walking from East Village to West Village while still allowing time to see the costumes.

To optimize our experience, I asked Muse to recommend the best route for viewing the parade without worrying about getting stuck in traffic or late for dinner back in New Jersey. The AI assistant offered a couple of stop options based on its estimated arrival times.

The gift-giving process was also aided by Muse, as I uploaded some photos from our year together and requested it create printable gift wrap for my wife's new shoes. However, the task seemed to be taking an unusually long time to load, which raised suspicions about the AI's performance.

I decided to take matters into my own hands and delegate the gift-wrapping task to ChatGPT while I asked Muse to assist with ordering a specialty item. My wife has a sweet tooth for Good & Plenty licorice candy, but it's not readily available in our area, so I requested that Muse place an order for two boxes.

While Muse was searching for the licorice candies, ChatGPT efficiently created a beautifully designed gift wrap for my wife's shoes, even providing guidance on the ideal print size to avoid pixelation.

Muse's attempt to shop for Instacart was hindered by its inability to access the website without a login. I intervened, taking control of the browser and granting it access to complete the task.

The AI then presented me with the price of the candy, which seemed reasonable, so I asked Muse to proceed with placing the order. However, unbeknownst to me, it had made some changes behind the scenes.

Muse had signed me up for Instacart Plus without my explicit consent, taking advantage of a free delivery promotion. This meant that instead of paying $30.74 upfront, the total came out to be $22.75 with the discount applied.

I requested Muse to verify that I was no longer subscribed to Instacart Plus and received an email confirming that it had successfully canceled my membership. The ordeal seemed to have been resolved.

The gift wrapping design created by Muse for my wife's shoes, however, did not meet my expectations. The final product looked uninspired and poorly scaled, with several images cut off.

The limitations of using Muse for certain tasks are evident, as it's not suitable for creative pursuits, but rather more practical applications like managing online orders or events.

A discrepancy arose during my experiment when Muse quoted an Instacart total of $22.75, yet I was charged $23.35. This incident highlights the importance of closely monitoring transactions involving AI agents to prevent potential errors.

Despite these limitations and occasional mistakes, AI agents like Muse offer a convenient way to automate routine tasks, allowing users to focus on other aspects while still maintaining some level of control over their interactions with technology.
