Listen to Rodgers praise Chicago and its sports fans initially appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers quarterback and archnemesis of Chicago Bears followers, apparently has loads of love for the Windy City.
Ahead of Bears-Packers this weekend, Rodgers gushed at a press convention about his admiration for the town and his respect the sports activities followers. Including the Bears followers he is tormented all these years, and that detest him in return.
“I mean, I don’t think they’re extremely happy with me, they’re not very cordial most of the time, but I respect that,” Rodgers stated. “I respect it is an incredible sports activities city they acquired two baseball groups, a basketball staff that I grew up cheering for.
That’s proper, Rodgers grew up a Bulls fan. He’s since develop into a minority proprietor of the Milwaukee Bucks so his Bulls allegiances have in all probability pale.
But his love of Chicago and its sports activities groups developed the best way it did for many individuals.
“When I was growing up, one of the few channels we had on TV was WGN. So you got to watch like Cubs baseball, you know, and some Bulls basketball games for whatever reason. So you actually became a fan,” Rodgers stated. I believe as a result of I used to be a giant sports activities fan and that was the one factor I used to be on TV.”
And regardless of being a rival, he all the time loved the town.
“For years, you know, when we played down there, I would, the night before go on a long walk and often walk to to dinner,” Rodgers stated. “Mastro’s was the place I went to dinner for years and years and years in a row, and I’m a type of walks, you understand, a random mother and son, though I’m all bundled up, you understand, carrying a sweatshirt it is freezing and, you understand, a winter hat and stuff. They acknowledge me and we walked for, I do not know, 4 or 5 blocks collectively.
“So that was there was a nice, nice chance meeting, but I’ve always enjoyed, enjoy the city, enjoy the fans, even though they haven’t really enjoyed me. That’s fine. I get it.”
But his tenure in Green Bay almost got here to an finish this offseason, and this might be his ultimate season with the Packers.
“Maybe there’ll be a little little more love when my time comes to an end playing here,” Rodgers stated. “But I do have a lot of respect for the city and the sports, the sports fans they got there.”
And simply to make clear, he won’t ever play for the Bears.
“No, no, no. It’s just not going to happen,” Rodgers stated when requested.
It’s okay, now we have Justin Fields and do not want a quarterback now.
