One person has died and a police officer was injured after a shooting at a high school on Monday in Knoxville, Tennessee, police mentioned. The person was pronounced useless at the scene.

Knoxville Police Department (KPD) in Tennessee mentioned that a number of companies are at the scene of a shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School.
The investigation is “active,” police mentioned.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Kimberly Glenn mentioned that somebody from the division is heading to the hospital to verify on the injured police officer, WVLT reported.
Gov. Bill Lee mentioned throughout an occasion Monday afternoon for individuals to “pray for that situation and the families and the victims that might be effected by that in our state.”
Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon instructed WVLT she met with the injured officer.
“He is conscious and he’s in good spirits. I met with his wife, he’s going to be OK,” she mentioned, including that the officer might want to bear surgical procedure.
Kincannon mentioned she thanked the officer for placing his life on the road for the scholars and workers at the school.
“He said that he’d rather that he be hurt than anybody else,” she mentioned.
