UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Members of the Penn State neighborhood are invited to affix the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) for IST Research Talks, a series of lectures that spotlight the interdisciplinary work of Penn State college and students.
The first set of talks is scheduled for 12:05–1:15 p.m. on Sept. 11 in E202 Westgate Building. It will function James Wang, distinguished professor of IST and a Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence college affiliate; and Sharon Huang, David Reese Professor of Information Sciences and Technology, interim head of IST’s Department of Informatics and Intelligent Systems, Institute for Computational and Data Sciences affiliate college and a Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences college affiliate.
“Visions of Emotion: Decoding Human Bodily Expressions”
Wang will current “Visions of Emotion: Decoding Human Bodily Expressions.” He will focus on his lab’s work to combine information from computing, psychology and the performing arts to allow AI know-how to know and analyze human emotion by means of physique language.
Wang’s analysis pursuits embrace computerized picture tagging/recognition, local weather informatics, biomedical informatics, computability of aesthetics and feelings, semantics-sensitive picture retrieval, story picturing, artwork picture evaluation and retrieval and picture safety. He has a doctoral diploma in medical info sciences from Stanford University, grasp’s levels in arithmetic and laptop science from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s diploma in arithmetic and laptop science from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
“Synthetic Image and Video Generation for Data Augmentation and Sharing in Medical Applications”
Huang will current “Synthetic Image and Video Generation for Data Augmentation and Sharing in Medical Applications.” She will focus on generative fashions that create real looking medical pictures and movies, highlighting their use for enhancing classification, enabling privacy-preserving information sharing and advancing large-scale medical synthetic intelligence (AI) coaching.
Huang’s analysis pursuits are within the areas of generative AI, laptop imaginative and prescient, biomedical picture evaluation and machine studying. She has doctoral and grasp’s levels in laptop science from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s diploma in laptop science from Tsinghua University.
