WHEELING — Wheeling Alumna Carrie (Plute) Hanna, present Assistant Director of Athletics and Director of Compliance at Wheeling University, has been promoted to Director of Athletics, University President Ginny R. Favede introduced Tuesday.

Hanna will instantly assume the general day-to-day growth and administration of Wheeling University’s 20 NCAA Division II athletic applications.

The 1996 graduate of Wheeling has labored at her alma mater for practically 21 years. Prior to her promotion, Hanna served 5 years because the Assistant AD and Director of Compliance. Upon retiring from skilled competitors, Hanna determined to additional her training. In 1999, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology from West Virginia University. Upon her marriage to Wheeling native David Hanna, the couple moved to South Dakota, the place she started her collegiate teaching profession. After one 12 months on the helm, she returned to the Wheeling space and commenced head coach of the Wheeling Park High School ladies’ group, main them to a state championship in her first season.
