# Fire Breaks Out at Russian Oil Terminal Following Drone Strikes

A massive fire broke out at an oil export terminal in St Petersburg on Sunday after a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian targets across the country.

A massive fire broke out at an oil export terminal in St Petersburg on Sunday, following a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian targets across the country.

The attack is part of a broader escalation between Ukraine and Russia, which has been fueled by tensions with Washington. US President Donald Trump has criticized Kyiv for its recent strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, further heightening the stakes.

Local authorities reported that one person was killed and five others were injured in the blast at the Petersburg Oil Terminal, with fires also erupting at a nearby Ruchi oil depot. Additionally, logistics centers belonging to Ozon and VK, two major Russian companies, were targeted.

Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed to have downed 1,015 Ukrainian drones across 15 regions, including Crimea and the Black Sea, in what appears to be one of Ukraine's largest aerial bombardments to date.

The damage from Ukraine's drone attacks on Russian oil sites has spread beyond the facilities themselves, with two apartment buildings and 18 cars also affected in the process. According to Mykhailo Semikin, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, an educational institution was also damaged.

Just days ago, US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an "energy ceasefire" in their ongoing conflict. However, despite this claim, Kyiv has reported continued attacks on energy sites by Moscow since then. This includes a resumption of attacks on Russian oil after a brief three-day hiatus.

Ukrainian officials have expressed outrage over the continued aerial bombardment of their country's energy infrastructure, with President Zelenskyy accusing Russia of defying Trump's demand for both sides to halt these attacks. In a post on X, Zelenskyy highlighted the scale of Russian aggression, stating that in the week since Trump's announcement, Moscow had attacked Ukraine's energy, oil and gas sectors 76 times.

Zelenskyy also noted that just one night prior to his statement, energy facilities in four Ukrainian regions were targeted by Russia, leaving tens of thousands of families without power. He accused Moscow of attempting to cause a blackout across the country.

Zelenskyy emphasized that America should recognize Russia's intentions are not driven by a desire for peace or reciprocation in response to sanctions relief. Instead, he believes Moscow sees every opportunity to make financial gains as proof that its decision to wage war is paying off.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that the ongoing conflict is the result of Russia's invasion, rather than Ukraine defending itself against an aggressor. He appealed to those who understand this reality to apply pressure on Russia to seek a peaceful resolution, saying it is the only way for peace to have a chance.
